God forbid I leave my dayjob ONE hour early yesterday, because 5 freakin' applications and probably 10,000 ohmigodIamhavingacrisis phone calls have amassed themselves. ~sigh~ I'll deal with them later. I spend 55+ hours a week here - it's not like I won't get stuff done. Yay for job security!

Yeah!!! We had a great night last night, and WONDERFUL turnout!!! Thanks to all of you - the bands, our DJ, the fans, the artists. Such a diverse bill (Diversity is my middle name, baby...well, not really...it's Lynne, but you get the point)- and yet all the bands complimented each other really well and crossed over to each other's fanbases. I'm waiting for the flood of emails in my inbox that I usually get the next day after a DS show - I love when people give me input, suggestions, praises, critiques...it means the world is sitting up and listening, and DARK SKY bands are what they are listening to!!! Many of the bands that have graced our rosters are going on to open for bigger bands or getting offers for gigs in other markets which prove extremely beneficial, exposure and networking-wise. I feel like a proud mommy!
Blitzkriegbliss...where can I begin? This was my first time seeing them live - all I'd had to go on were mp3 clips and reviews. Sophia has an amazingly powerful voice - raw and edgy - I'm reminded immediately of The Superheroines. I told her flat out that those mid-90's Seattle riotgrrl bands ain't got nothin' on her....d*mn...I was just blown away. They've got a serious punk rock ethos there. Mwahahahaha...I might have some plans for them, and it just might involve a certain music festival slated to take place in September.
New Fire packed the house - excellent draw, ardent fanbase - I love seeing them perform, because every time they take the stage, you can plainly see that each band member has a different personality and style, but they all blend together to create a charismatic performance. When we have them back again, they're getting billed for headliner status.
New Remorse was a band I first discovered when Lilac Ambush was called to open for them at a CD release party hosted at O'Briens this fall. Obvious new-wave infusion here - would appeal to fans of Duran Duran and New Order - but they've got some heavier guitar work thrown in there as well (you can see why they've shared bills with Lilac Ambush). This was their debut at the Skybar - they usually play in Allston - but their loyal following made the trek out to S'ville, and they gained many new fans last night as well. New Remorse will be headlining at the September 15th edition of DARK SKY (yes, I sometimes *do* think that far ahead ;) - I think quite likely I'll throw Thylacine onto that bill as well.
Thanks much to DJ Gabriell of Nokturnal/Providence for supplying DS patrons with some wonderful music from 8-9 and between bands' sets. The crew from Dreamchild insisted that I introduce them to our DJ, a request I quickly complied with. Brandon the mad rock 'n roll photographer was in-house to shoot the festivities of the evening, having recently done photos for the Motley Crue show at the Fleet Center, so DS was once again "touching greatness" by association. Matt Towler of Sponge Studio sold a piece of artwork and made a couple of choice networking contacts. Joe the Soundguy kicks *ss!!!
No matter what happens today...or this weekend...nothing can bring me down after last night :)
Gracious Appreciation to All,
~Anders

Is New Fire going to sign up to do the NEMO showcase (http://www.nemoboston.com) this year? I think you should strongly consider it..
